Marketing Tools

It seems like every day there’s a new tool for marketing professionals that’s (ironically marketed) to be the best. While I may be newer to the field, I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit sifting through these programs to find the ones that work for me. Some are free, some are not, but nonetheless, they are all great. I can assure you this blog isn’t sponsored… (but hey, if one of these are your company and you’re reading this, you know what to do).



Starting off, and quite possibly my favorite is Later. Later is a FREE publishing tool. Yes, free! Later is great for so many reasons. First of all, Later connects with Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Per month, you get 30 free posts per social channel, with the exception of Twitter, which gets 50 free posts. That means you can literally schedule content for the entire month on each of those channels for free! Later allows you to do everything from captioning, to tagging, to hashtagging, as well as picking the time and day you’d like your photo to post. Additionally, Later has an app that allows you to do all of this from the convenience of your phone, and sends emails weekly about helpful tips for social media. If you’d like to post a video through Later, you would have to upgrade to a paid plan, but the pricing is reasonable, and with the paid version you get more posts per month and other perks!



Another great free program is Mailchimp. I’m sure most of you know about this already, but MailChimp is an email marketing tool. MailChimp has hundreds of pre-designed templates that can best fit your company to get your messages out. MailChimp is super customizable as well, allowing its users to change colors, font, etc. The best part about MailChimp? After you send out your email campaign, you get metrics tracking how well your e-news is doing! You know that’s a perk for us marketing people, we love seeing numbers to back up our work.



Lastly, a tool I use every day, Pipedrive. Pipedrive is a CRM that allows you to track your leads and when they turn into conversions. While this is a paid program, the benefits are plentiful. On Pipedrive, you can have different pipelines to track your customers as they come and go. Pipedrive celebrates when you win a deal and asks you why you lost a deal. And of course, all this information provides metrics that you can analyze. With Pipedrive, no client can slip through the seams, you can schedule follow-ups, meetings, calls, etc, and when they are due, Pipedrive will send you an email to make sure you don’t forget. Pipedrive did take some time to get used to, and there was definitely some research that went into it, but after the free trial, I felt confident in its ability to keep me on track.



Again, all of these programs worked for me, but you may not find value in them. My best advice is to try it! Try it all! Use your free trial. Soak up as many resources you can to figure out what you like and what you don’t.
