KVP Energy Services, a prominent electric construction and maintenance company, approached The IMG Studio with a unique challenge: to create an instructional safety video that would break through the typical “tune-out” factor often associated with routine safety training. With employees already well-versed in safety protocols, we needed to deliver a message that would resonate on a deeper, emotional level and truly impact behavior on the jobsite.

Rather than producing a standard instructional video, we collaborated with KVP Energy to take a more human approach, focusing on the real-life consequences of neglecting safety measures. We identified and interviewed several employees who had experienced workplace accidents firsthand, including one who had narrowly escaped death. These powerful testimonials brought the abstract dangers of the job into stark reality, illustrating the life-altering effects accidents can have—not only on the injured but also on their families and colleagues.

The video was structured around these deeply personal stories, allowing viewers to connect emotionally with their coworkers’ experiences. By highlighting the “why” behind safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE), we transformed this video into an impactful narrative about the importance of vigilance and personal responsibility on the jobsite. Employees could no longer see safety as just another box to check; instead, they understood how easily accidents could happen and how critical it is to follow safety procedures every day.

The result was a highly engaging and effective training tool that significantly changed workplace behavior at KVP Energy. Employees who watched the video reported a newfound seriousness about safety, with many adopting safer practices and complying more consistently with PPE regulations.

This video was so impactful that it earned widespread recognition, culminating in a 2023 Lone Star EMMY award for excellence in video production. The honor highlights not only the quality of the video but also its success in delivering a meaningful and lasting message about safety.
