Proof That You Don’t Need a Big Crew to Tell an Emotionally Powerful Story

How a Two-Person Crew Created an Emotional Video

When Methodist Healthcare approached The IMG Studio with their idea, we knew it wasn’t going to be a typical production. They weren’t looking for a marketing piece or corporate highlight reel. Therefore, they wanted to create a video that was deeply emotional, personal, and heartfelt. Something that would truly honor one of their longtime nurse leaders, Jane, in a way that felt as heartfelt as her decades of service.

This was more than just a project; it was crafting a video that resonated emotionally.

They gave us a poem. Written years ago by Jane’s grandmother, the poem captures Jane’s childhood dream of becoming a nurse. Back then, she couldn’t pronounce the word “nurse,” so she said “nuss”- a detail so endearing, we knew it had to stay. It wasn’t just a poem. It was a window into a lifelong calling, expressed in an emotional video that echoed her aspirations.

With just two members of our IMG crew, we storyboarded the poem, shot, and wrapped the entire video in a single afternoon. That kind of speed only works when creating a video with emotions that can be expressed by a small but mighty – tight-knit, creative, and in sync – team. We didn’t need a huge crew or elaborate gear. We needed a clear vision, a compelling story, and the right people in the room.

And the people in the room made all the difference. The “actors” in the video weren’t actors at all. They were actual Methodist nurses and children of Methodist employees, lending an authenticity and warmth you can’t fake. Their involvement enriched the emotional quality of the video.

The finished video was shown as a surprise for Jane at a nurse leadership event. Watching her reaction – surrounded by colleagues, friends, and fellow nurses – was a reminder of the power of an emotional video.

At The IMG Studio, we believe powerful storytelling doesn’t require big budgets or big crews. It requires heart, intention, and the right creative team to bring a video with emotional depth to life.
